Co Producer
Directed by Juru, Vitã
With a diverse crew composed of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC people, this film not only celebrates Ballroom culture, but also discusses issues of gender, financial inequalities and racism. A Brazilian version of Paris is Burning (Jennie Livingston, 1992), it mixes footage of a Ball organized especially for the documentary with interviews and artistic performances. The film portrays the ways in which the Ballroom culture, created in New York in the 1970s by black and Latino trans people, has been adapted and recreated in the Brazilian context and specifically in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. In addition, the film has a creative and entertaining montage, which dialogues with Ball's own aesthetic resources.
